SS Gravity Instructions
SS Gravity Water Filter Instructions | Setup & Maintenance Guide
Looking for clear, reliable instructions for your Stainless Steel Phoenix Gravity Water Filter? Properly setting up your gravity-fed system is essential for achieving the highest water purity and flow rate.
Follow this comprehensive guide from Aimex Australia to assemble, prime, and maintain your 304-grade stainless steel water purifier.
1. Pre-Installation: Inspecting Your System
Before beginning the assembly, ensure you have all the necessary components for your Phoenix Gravity System:
-
Upper and Lower Stainless Steel Chambers
-
Stainless Steel Lid with Handle
-
Black Carbon Filter Cartridges (or Fluoride Reduction Filters)
-
Stainless Steel Tap or Plastic Spigot Kit
-
Rubber Sealing Washers and Wing Nuts
2. Priming Your Water Filter Cartridges (Crucial Step)
To ensure immediate water flow, you must "prime" your carbon filters to remove trapped air and manufacturing dust.
-
Hold the filter element under a cold water tap.
-
Use the priming washer (the small tan-colored washer) against the faucet.
-
Press the faucet against the washer to force water through the filter until "sweat" beads appear on the exterior.
-
Repeat for all filter elements.
3. Assembling the Stainless Steel Chambers
-
Step 1: Install the Tap. Insert the tap through the hole in the lower chamber. Place one washer on the outside and one on the inside before tightening the nut.
-
Step 2: Install Filters. Place the black washers onto the threaded stems of the filter elements. Insert the stems through the holes in the upper chamber and secure them tightly with the wing nuts provided.
-
Step 3: Stack Chambers. Place the upper chamber onto the lower chamber. Ensure it sits level for a secure, leak-proof seal.
4. First Use and Conditioning
Fill the upper chamber with cold tap water. Allow the water to filter through into the lower chamber. Note: For the best-tasting results, we recommend discarding the first two cycles of filtered water. This flushes any remaining carbon fines and conditions the media for optimal performance.
5. Maintenance Tips for Australian Conditions
To keep your Aimex water system performing at its peak:
-
Clean the Chambers: Every 2–3 months, wash the stainless steel tanks with mild soapy water and dry thoroughly.
-
Scrub the Filters: If the flow rate slows, remove the filters and gently scrub the surface with a Scotch-Brite pad under running water. Do not use soap on the filters.
-
Replacement Schedule: Replace your Phoenix cartridges every 6,000 to 12,000 litres (depending on usage) to maintain high filtration efficiency.
