Why is the water flowing slowly through my new filter?
A slow flow is normal at first as the air is displaced from the 8 stages of media. We recommend soaking your new filter in water for about 12 hours before installation to "prime" the media and ensure it works effectively from the first drop.
Why is the filter cartridge not recyclable?
While we use BPA-free, food-grade materials, the internal "active" ingredients—specifically the KDF media and specialized mineral stones—absorb and trap heavy metals and impurities from your water. Because these contaminants are permanently locked inside the media, the cartridges cannot be processed through standard household recycling bins. However, the massive reduction in plastic bottle waste far outweighs the footprint of two small cartridges per year.
